Common Tactics
This weapon is great paired either with itself or another extreme range weapon. It's high rate of fire, immeasurable damage to components and ability to inflict massive collateral on near-miss shots means that it is a welcome addition on ANY ship.
Commonly used as all 4 Galleon Heavy Weapons, or paired with a Kill Weapon like the Echidna or Typhon.
This weapon makes extremely short work of enemy Capital ships, as the round pierces the entire ship and carries gargantuan component damage with it. This will effectively cripple and kill such large ships very quickly.
It sees use as a Point Defense Weapon, able to destroy any incoming projectile when it is fired. This means any weapon that fires a physicalized projectile, I.E. Whirlwind, Hades, Seraph Tempest Missile & Cluster. This does NOT include Dragontongue Flamethrower fire, the gas from a Katakula Gas Mortar (though the projectile can be destroyed) or the laser of the Aten Lenses and other things of a similar non-projectile nature.
The projectile violently yanks the enemy ship toward you, preventing fleeing and also allowing you to bring ships within range of other weapons. This makes it an excellent chase weapon.
It's large turning arcs allow it to be used to great effect with small and large weapons of any type.
Commonly Used Ammunition
Greased Rounds will decrease the charge time by a full second and increase ammunition. While damage per shot goes down, component damage is still very considerable and will likely still destroy most all components on the ship in one shot. Increase Refire Rate means it will cripple and kill most small ships very quickly.
