Moonshine is a helm tool used to temporarily increase the thrust of a ship's engines and reducing longitudinal drag, thus increasing the functional maximum speed and forward/backward acceleration. Highly increased angular drag prevents the ship from turning and can be used to great effect in order to stabilize the ship during rams, bumps or over-turns, during mine and Minotaur hits.
Moonshine is very similar to Kerosene but provides additionally increased acceleration, higher top speed and stronger stabilization at the cost of more engine damage.
While activating Moonshine, the engines will take a moderate amount of damage per second, slightly higher than Rubber Mallet can provide. Therefore, the operational time of Moonshine is limited and unsustainable for constant use, requiring the player to use it in bursts. But Fail-safe Kit have the great symbiosis with the Moonshine allows almost constantly usage this tool and keeping engines undamaged, what together provide giant boost to the speed.
Like all helm tools it is only useful for the player flying the ship and has no effect if equipped by other crew members.
Common Usage
Moonshine is commonly found on ships with easy to maintain engines like Pyramidion, Galleon or Shrike and sometimes Goldfish. Its high angular drag makes it perfect for ramming by preventing turns and keeping guns in arc.
