Phoenix Claw is a very popular helm tool, used in order to increase the ship's turn speed. When activated, engine thrust is increased and angular drag reduced, making turns much faster. At the same time, longitudinal drag is increased, resulting in drastically reduced top speed, and engines take minor damage.
While activated during rams, bumps, mine and Minotaur hits, ships get thrown out of arc significantly more due to reduced angular drag.
Like all helm tools it is only useful for the player flying the ship and has no effect if equipped by other crew members.
Common Usage
Phoenix Claw is commonly found on all ships and is a must have on all ships with slow turning speeds like the Pyramidion and Galleon. Due to the already very high turning speed and acceleration on a Squid, or the high difference between the low angular acceleration and the high top angular speed on a Mobula, Phoenix Claw is not necessarily needed on those ships.
After hard turn with help of Phoenix Claw is common to use a short burst of Kerosene or Moonshine for stabilize ship in required direction
